About the role: The Cloud Services Architect is responsible for the overall direction and roadmap for the organization’s architectural approach to cloud services utilization. The Cloud Services Architect drives development of the overall application, data, and infrastructure blueprints and standards in relation to cloud technologies. The architect collaborates with others across the cross-functional architectural teams and with business areas to understand vision and strategies to create cloud ecosystems to support those strategies. The architect designs an architecture that supports multiple cloud environments, while ensuring adherence to enterprise patterns and industry best practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as the subject matter expert for cloud services.
  • Responsible for cloud services short-term and long-term technical strategy & planning development for private, public and hybrid cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS and FaaS.
  • Create and maintain architectural artifacts and roadmaps to lead the delivery of successful cloud implementations.
  • Analyze proposed changes to identify architecture strategies for meeting business objectives and impacts, including costs and effort required to implement.
  • Work with Cloud Service Brokers to identify and solution the strategic approach to using cloud services.
  • Advise stakeholders on leading cloud practices and architectural approaches.
  • Provide cloud architecture governance and oversight on new and evolving patterns.
  • liaise across the technology team to influence, advise on, and harvest cloud practices.
  • Develop guidelines and guardrails to enable teams to be more self-sufficient.
  • Design and develop with consideration for non-functional requirements (scalability, reliability, availability, observability, fault tolerance, security, and maintainability).
  • Form and maintain a trusted relationship with senior leaders in technical and non-technical spaces, driving alignment between product and technical roadmaps.
  • Play an active role in the architecture and be a key voice in technical initiatives and projects requiring integration of cross-functional systems.
  • Mentors solution architects and product delivery teams in the public cloud space to drive alignment with the architectural vision.
  • Assist and advise project teams on project design options.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s in relevant area or equivalent work experience.
  • Cloud certifications a plus.
  • 10 years of general IT experience.
  • 5+ years of experience providing senior technical and thought leadership, leading complex Enterprise IT projects, in the areas of Cloud architecture, adoption, strategy, migration, management and/or operations.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving emerging/disruptive Cloud technology, utility pricing models, open source software, Security and Software as a Service delivery in a public sector context.
  • Led the development of guiding cloud architectural principles and strategies and applies these to defining guidelines, rules, and standards to guide enterprise cloud architectural decisions.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure and AWS)
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments.
  • Experience developing architectural diagrams, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Experience presenting to senior-level executives and technical audiences.
  • Healthcare industry work experience is preferred, but not required.

Preferred Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to write exceptionally and be able to create compelling whitepapers, presentations, proposals and other written material that clearly communicate perspectives, strategies and solutions. Being published, a plus
  • Detailed understanding of public cloud architectural principles and strategies, as well as cloud computing, architectural design and implementation, and cloud operational support.
  • Firm understanding of project management which includes resource alignment, understanding project requirements, roles and responsibilities, work processes, and communication and project plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to see the long-term vision.
  • Organizationally savvy, with the ability to navigate organizational politics.
  • Skilled at influencing, guiding, and facilitating stakeholders and peers with decision making.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, organizational, and technical skills
  • Understanding of emerging technology trends/disruptions and their practical application to new and existing technologies.
  • Knowledge of various aspects of enterprise technology architecture like business, information, data, network, and security
  • Excellent understanding of application support and development methodologies and infrastructure and network architecture

Compensation is between $120,000 to $180,000 annually. Premise offers a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time team members including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, annual CEU/CME allowance, and Tuition Reimbursement. Benefits offered to part-time team members include 401K, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays and annual CEU/CME allowance. PRN team members may also enroll in 401K.
