JOB SCOPE:
Our 10-week, paid Summer Internship Program gives college students the opportunity to see how Finance supports a leading national trailer leasing and rental company. As a Finance & Accounting Intern, you will gain exposure across key areas of our Finance organization and learn how financial information flows through the business - from customers and billing to cash, vendors, accounting, month-end close, and financial analysis.
You will work alongside finance professionals, including members of our Accounting and FP&A teams, while gaining exposure to how financial data supports operational and business decisions across Premier.
This is a full-time, on-site Intern role from May 31 through August 6, 2027 (8AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday) at our Corporate office in Plano, TX.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Financial accounting and the month-end close process.
- Financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and how financial information supports business decisions.
- Cash application, accounts payable, billing, and revenue processes.
- Sales and use tax processes across multiple states.
- Customer and branch financial analysis, including exposure to fleet-related business metrics.
- How Finance partners with branch operations, sales, and other corporate teams to support the business.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end close.
- Assist with billing-cycle activities and gain exposure to revenue processes.
- Assist in the preparation and payment of sales and use tax returns for applicable states.
- Process customer lockbox, wire, ACH, and credit card payments.
- Process vendor invoices and payments and gain exposure to accounts payable workflows.
- Partner with FP&A on customer reviews, branch fleet analysis, and other financial analysis that supports business decisions.
- Gain exposure to the financial and business processes involved in becoming and serving a Premier customer.
- Complete a customer review project for National Accounts using financial and operational information.
- Assist Finance and other Corporate teams with projects that support business priorities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Current enrollment in a four-year degree or graduate program. Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related business majors preferred.
- Rising junior or senior preferred.
- GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Interest in corporate finance, FP&A, accounting, financial analysis, or related business finance careers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity, coachability, effective time management, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week for the full May 31 - August 6, 2027 internship period with minimum absences.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills - including formulas and PivotTables.
