The Senior Tax Analyst position is accountable for managing the preparation of all sales & use returns (Multi-state), business personal property returns (Multi-state and county), state business account registration, G/L tax reconciliations, and 1099’s. This position will assist in all areas of the tax department as needed.                    
  • Review, Prepare, and file sales and use tax, occupancy, excise, and other various tax returns across multiple taxing jurisdictions 
  • Review, Prepare, and file business personal property returns for all applicable states/counties in a timely manner 
  • Review, Prepare, and file annual tax reports and business licenses by state, as required 
  • Manage and maintain tax trackers and calendars 
  • Analyze returns and communicates trends of inconsistencies to Senior Tax Manager 
  • Assist and/or manage the reconciliation of all tax GL accounts in a timely manner 
  • Assist and/or manage internal audits and external audits by various tax authorities, including data analysis 
  • Analyze, configure, and update tax system 
  • Assist Senior Tax Manager with special projects 
  • Review and/or manage tax codes to all customers claiming exemption and maintains certificates where applicable 
  • Analyze and review outsourced tax preparation (Corporate returns) 
  • Recommend process improvements to help improve efficiencies of area of responsibility 
  • Assist and advise other departments within the company to prevent or resolve tax issues 
  • Stay up to date on current state and federal policies on taxation and be aware of any upcoming changes in tax law 
  • High level of analytical ability for complex problem solving required 
  • Self-motivated, organized, resourceful and detail orientated 
  • Experience with general ledger accounting 
  • Requires ability to work independently while possessing interpersonal skills necessary to interact with others 
  • Ability to work under demanding time constraints while multi-tasking 
  • Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal English 
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to all Premier Trailer Leasing policies, including those related to scheduling and attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and honesty and ethical conduct 
  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Accounting or Business program required
  • At least 4+ years of general tax experience
  • At least 4+ years of direct sales and use tax return preparation in multi-state environment
  • General knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills – Including Pivot Tables and Macros
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites - Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Great Plains a plus
