JOB SCOPE:  
Premier Trailer Leasing seeks a skilled Network Engineer to join our IT team. This role is crucial for maintaining the robustness and efficiency of our network infrastructures. As a Network Engineer, you will be tasked with the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of network hardware, software, and the associated systems to ensure maximum uptime and security.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Network Management: Maintain, administer, and optimize company networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, network systems software, monitoring software, and all configurations.
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup: Conduct disaster recovery operations and maintain configuration backups to ensure business continuity.
  • Security Implementation: Develop and enforce network security strategies and processes, manage firewall configurations, and maintain security devices to safeguard all systems. Leverage Network Monitoring AI to address model breaches and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network systems. Provide ongoing support for network connectivity issues.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance and adjust infrastructure to improve speed and efficiency. Implement performance enhancing methodologies as required.
  • Network Design and Configuration: Design, configure, and test network hardware, software, and operating system software. Oversee the deployment of LANs, WANs, and wireless networks in an SDWAN infrastructure.
  • Hardware Management: Install and configure network hardware like routers, switches, firewalls, and UPSs. Maintain and troubleshoot VoIP system connectivity and LTE routers.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed network documentation and diagrams using Visio. Provide regular updates on network status and health to IT leadership.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Security: Work with the security team to select and implement appropriate security tools and protocols. Maintain awareness of industry security practices and business compliance standards.
 
Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with SD-WAN infrastructure vendor to troubleshoot issues and resolve ISP (Internet Service Provider) related events.
  • Operate network management consoles to oversee system /network performance and security.
  • Coordinate network access and system use according to organizational policies.
  • Deploy SSL certificates and VPN tunnels as needed.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mobility: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking within the office environment. Ability to move around the facility, maneuver in small spaces, and occasionally work in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Dexterity: Regular use of hands and fingers to operate computer and networking equipment, including servers, routers, switches, and other hardware.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry hardware and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds occasionally.
  • Vision: Must be able to read and interpret data on computer screens and small labels on hardware components. Requires good vision, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Hearing and Speaking: Clear speech and hearing ability for effective communication with colleagues and management. This includes in-person and virtual meetings as well as communication via phone.
  • Mental Focus: Ability to maintain concentration and focus during complex technical tasks, often while facing tight deadlines or dealing with interruptions.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to different branches may be required; ability to travel and drive as needed.
 
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a focus on network engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure, hardware, and security.
  • Ability to develop precise network diagrams and documentation for network planning.
  • Adept at quickly learning recent technologies using documentation and online resources.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Prior experience with Fortinet and Netgear technologies; WatchGuard and Fortinet firewalls; and Azure Cloud services is preferred.
  • Prior experience with using network monitoring or threat visualizer tools such as DarkTrace.
