JOB SCOPE:
The Senior Director - Credit & Collections provides strategic oversight and leadership for critical credit risk management functions, including credit underwriting, policy development, customer communications, and loss mitigation. This role collaborates closely with Branch and Operations Managers to identify and pursue growth opportunities by establishing appropriate credit lines and implementing innovative financing solutions that drive revenue and profitability while managing risk. Additionally, the Senior Director ensures professional customer engagement within the credit department and oversees credit strategies informed by expertise in bankruptcy law, secured transactions, negotiable instruments, and banking system processes. The role includes the leadership of four direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead credit extension decisions, accounts receivable collections, and initiatives to achieve company goals for customer credit support and cost control
- Drive the development, strategic direction, and continuous improvement of credit and collection processes
- Develop and implement alternative financing programs, including supply chain financing solutions, while managing relationships with third-party financing partners
- Oversee credit extension to 3,000+ customers, generating over $400 million in annual revenue
- Provide senior-level risk review, escalation support, and sign-off on complex credit matters
- Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to create frameworks for managing non-performing accounts and minimizing risk
- Deliver comprehensive credit risk reporting to executive leadership and applicable committees
- Ensure compliance with established credit policies, audit requirements, and self-testing initiatives
- Balance risk and revenue objectives to meet loss target expectations while enabling new account acquisition
- Collaborate with Branch and Operations Managers to evaluate new client opportunities and implement effective risk mitigation strategies
- Lead department audits, project management, and operational enhancements for credit risk components
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business required, preferred major in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, credit, or accounting; experience in the transportation industry is a plus
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience and success managing a team
- Treasury experience and CPA certification are advantageous
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
- Certified Credit Executive (CCE) designation from the National Association of Credit Management is highly desirable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Strong expertise in credit bureau data, score calculations, risk mitigation strategies, and profitability levers
- Deep understanding of P&L dynamics and the impact of policy changes on organizational performance
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable insights
- High-level communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and fostering professional development
- Knowledge of NACHA Operating Rules and Visa/MasterCard regulations is a plus
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with credit management tools and reporting systems preferred
