The Associate Manager, IRT QA position is responsible for the day-to-day management, guidance, support, and training of assigned QA staff (Test Solution Architects and PCs). This position also serves as the first line of escalation for addressing Project Management and Development related issues pertaining to validation, project status and design/functional requirements clarification.

The Associate Manager, IRT QA:

  • Assists IRT QA Manager to ensure timeline compliance of QA deliverables: test scripts, VR testing, BRD reviews
  • Conducts annual performance appraisals for assigned QA staff
    Counsels, probates and terminates employees, if needed
  • Mentors new hires, and/or assigns buddies and monitors training progress/addresses areas of concern
  • Attends BRD Reviews and Code Reviews of projects assigned to members of their staff
  • Daily communication with IRT QA Manager regarding relevant issues, activities, personnel issues, training, etc
  • Writes Test Scripts and conducts VR testing on an as-needed basis
  • Peer review of test scripts pertaining to complex and bespoke functionality
  • Provides backup for IRT QA Manager as needed
  • Assists the IRT QA Manager with the interviewing and onboarding process
  • Department administrative duties as assigned

For project success:

  • Works with Project Management and Development project teams to resolve escalated issues
  • Provides assistance with defect management during the test phase, as requested by the Project Lead Tester
  • Provides guidance for the writing and execution of test scripts for complex/bespoke modules, and conducts peer review of said test scripts
  • Provides guidance and support for the use of SQL Queries used for database testing
  • Writes and executes business rule compliance checks
  • Assists the IRT QA Manager to develop, maintain and deliver training programs for IRT QA Staff in the areas of: Test Script writing content, structure and standardization; Sponsor specific requirements; Master requirements documents; Validation ticket structure, requirements and content; Output documentation structure, annotation of requirements and content
  • Project work as assigned
  • Provides continuous feedback and project updates to IRT QA Manager
  • Other activities or duties as assigned
  • Travel required (including international) up to 10% of the time

You'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or management experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in software testing
  • 3 years of experience in test script process preferred
  • 3 years of experience in software test methodologies preferred
  • 2 years of previous management experience, or 3-5 years of software test lead experience
  • Previous CRO experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) including Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Possess intermediate level SQL skillset
  • Ability to work well and maintain composure under pressure
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to facilitate a team approach across the broader technical organization
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks within a single or multiple projects, across multiple locations
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written skills
