‚ÄčThe Senior Resource Planner I supports all activities associated with resource planning scope and scheduling of multiple global projects. This includes contributing to the project management of schedules of activities and overseeing and managing resources as it relates to complex project assignments. This role also recommends staffing assignments on potential awards, new awards and ongoing business and liaises closely with project teams to recommend the required staff necessary to conduct the business of Premier Research. 

  • May act as primary resourcing contact when departmental leadership is not available 
  • Liaise closely with internal customers to review contract/budget areas that impact any aspect of forecasting, planning of projects, and/or assignment of staff required to manage project work 
  • Maintain and oversee staff tracking assignments and provides updates as needed to senior management regarding availability and assignment status to ensure projects are staffed appropriately as defined by budgets 
  • Accountable for the coordination, monitoring, and reporting of quality project schedule information to enable effective resource assignments 
  • Ensure Project Managers are aware of upcoming resource constraints and prioritization is agreed where conflicts exist 
  • Support critical path analyses and understands the potential impact to effectively work with Management and proactively identify necessary plan changes; subsequently support applicable resourcing restructuring to meet such changes 
  • Effectively communicatwith senior management and/or project team regarding status of all contractual assignments 
  • Maintain and oversee the entry of information/status into the resourcing system 
  • Directly participate in and proactively contribute to project-related meetings to discuss, review and optimize scheduling and resourcing plans 
  • Develop and implement new initiatives to enhance and develop service offerings related to forecasting, planning, and resourcing to the organization as required 
  • Develop documentation relating to forecasting, planning, and resourcing tools, systems and processes 
  • Develop expert understanding of tools and systems used within Premier that support forecasting, planning, and resourcing working practices 
  • Coach and train others in both organizational and departmental systems  
  • Liaise with HR to confirm hiring requirements 
  • Inform Premier Research Management/Senior Management of staff capacity and future requirements in order to ensure supply is present to meet demand of required project work  
  • Match staff assignments to budgets/change orders to maximize profitability 
  • Recommend appropriate resourcing solutions to manage conflicting priorities and project overlaps 
  • Drive continuous resource planning improvement initiatives as required 
  • Proactively collaborate with the project team to ensure the client deliverables and expectations are achieved or exceeded wherever possible 
  • Support the analysis of cost and schedule impact 
  • Assist the Resource Planners with making changes to the scheduling and running reports for individual projects and portfolios 
  • Review and advise on Regulatory and Clinical Operations Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Working Guidelines (WGs) and Associated Documents (ADs) as requested 
  • Provide training on staff tracking tool maintenance 
  • Mentor and train junior level staff 


  • Bachelor’s degree, or its international equivalent from an accredited institution, or equivalent skills and industry experience 
  • BS/BA degree and 5-8 years direct experience; or an equivalent experience of 9+ years with direct resource planning and scheduling responsibilities within a CRO or Pharmaceutical environment 
  • Experience mentoring and coaching employees   
  • Demonstrated proficiency proactively managing time and project requirements based on study deliverables 
  • Experience within a regulated environment and previous involvement providing input to the development of local SOPs and WGs and suggesting possible updates where required  
  • Experience researching, creating, and enhancing internal training materials 
  • Good understanding of Pharmaceutical and CRO processes and particular knowledge of Project Management methodologies within the industry 
  • PM certification (i.e. PRINCE2) or MS Project training/qualifications desired
