We are looking to bolster our user experience team that focuses on all interactions players enjoy outside our games and the parts that connect to our ecosystem inside of games. It’s our job to make sure that every part of the player’s journey with is simple, intuitive, and most importantly, fun. That means working with key stakeholders across the business to help design and bring new user experience flows to life – all before a single line of code is written. Since everything we do is enjoyed by millions of players worldwide every single day, it’s important that we get these decisions right.

If you’re able to bring solid visual design and execution leadership to a highly driven, fastmoving, and talented team, you’ll fit right in. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer and working closely with product managers, owners, specialists, designers, business analysts, and development teams, this is a hands-on role that can be on the ground with the team in Gibraltar or Malta, or remote.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of product designers and graphic artists to drive new designs, concepts, and flows that fit our business requirements and delight end users with the best possible experience.
  • Mentor, build, and guide your team of product designers. This leadership style includes design leadership where you are setting standards for designs and approaches that the team can easily consume and apply to their daily practices to excel and grow.
  • Provide detailed feedback and work to iterate concepts that need work together with your team of product designers. In some cases, this will be high level where you can talk through your feedback and continue progressing – in other cases, it may require you to jump in and provide examples, details, or actively participating to assist. Feedback is particularly vital in cases where it may affect the dependencies and connected interaction designs.
  • Create working Figma components and update design systems and patterns that are already in place. This may include many different sizes and breakpoints to accommodate all manner of devices, screen orientations, and resolutions. You will be very hands-on and need to understand the technical aspects of actual UI component design.
  • Work closely with the product team to help conceptualise and iterate new designs for customers. While the role’s primary focus will be to execute and iterate through designs and prototypes, your input as part of the initial creative process is valuable. This will include participating in design reviews, team meetings, and brainstorming sessions.
  • Meet with product, business analysis, and development teams to discuss the designs and prototypes. While these can ultimately help aid define the specification, building the products may require clarification and assistance, particularly if the development team is replicating challenging design patterns, animation sequences, and transitions.
  • Assist the product and business analysis teams with questions about the designs and to help guide the specifications. This will require flow and scenario testing, which may require revisions to the designs for edge cases.
  • Present concepts clearly, concisely, and effectively to the team and to stakeholders.
  • Adjust designs based on feedback from stakeholders or from broader technical challenges, constraints, or limitations that may arise during the production process.
  • Prepare tidy, thoughtful, and well-structured source files for development and supervise their implementation to ensure they are delivered according to the original vision.
  • Where possible, take new design solutions and bring them to life by creating mobile and desktop prototypes. Those will be used to get a sense of how they will function in practice, help solve animation and interaction sequences and foster critical fine-tuning feedback from stakeholders. While static images give a great impression of the functionality, seeing it in action is even more valuable.
  • Document new controls and designs so that other team members (or other teams) clearly understand the design decisions and how to use, implement, or maintain the outputs.
  • Update design systems and common controls where necessary to ensure that iterations are then fully documented, updated, and usable by the rest of the team.
  • Liaise with other design teams throughout the business to ensure broad alignment with design systems and characteristics.
  • Create high-fidelity concepts and designs from the outset. While we may occasionally use coarser wireframes, we typically dig directly into the details from the outset to flesh out issues and understand how it will work practically.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • When executing designs, you need to consider how it fits within the broader system and how we may want to address other areas for consistency. This needs to be a measured and phased approach with a thoughtful application of prioritisation to address matters now versus later.
