Role Overview:
The Audio/Video R&D Specialist (Virtual Production & AR) supports the development and implementation of research-driven solutions for real-time broadcast environments, working under the guidance of senior R&D engineers. The role focuses on developing next-generation tools, systems, and pipelines for real-time virtual production environments, enabling seamless interaction between physical studio infrastructure and digital and augmented content.
This position contributes to software development, system integration, and real-time rendering workflows, supporting the delivery of production-ready solutions for live studio and broadcast applications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Innovation & Prototype Development
- Assist in the design, development, and validation of prototypes for A/V systems
- Support research and implementation of new technologies in virtual production and broadcasting
- Participate in testing and evaluation of emerging technologies such as AI-assisted content generation and virtual production tools
2. Real-Time Engine & Pipeline Development
- Assist in developing and maintaining tools within Unreal Engine or Unity
- Support development of plugins and tools using C++, Blueprints, or similar technologies
- Maintain and support real-time virtual production pipelines
3. Tracking, Calibration & Spatial Accuracy
- Assist in implementing camera tracking solutions (e.g., Mo-Sys, NCAM)
- Support lens calibration and coordinate mapping activities
- Assist in ensuring alignment between real and virtual environments
4. DSP, Algorithms & Software Development
- Support development and implementation of algorithms for signal processing and video optimization
- Assist in implementing computer vision solutions where applicable
- Write and maintain code in C++, C#, or Python under guidance
5. Hardware & Systems Integration
- Assist in integrating broadcast hardware with software systems
- Work with professional standards such as SDI, NDI, and SMPTE ST 2110
- Interface with control systems such as Crestron and AMX
6. Testing, Validation & Performance Optimization
- Execute testing procedures for reliability and performance
- Support optimization of rendering pipelines and system performance
- Assist in maintaining stable real-time performance in live environments
7. AR & Data-Driven Visualization
- Support development of augmented reality overlays
- Assist in integrating live data into visualizations
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams under guidance
- Support translation of research outcomes into practical implementations
9. Documentation & Standards
- Prepare technical documentation and reports
- Contribute to internal documentation and knowledge bases
- Follow established technical standards and best practices
Requirements:
- 5-10 years in R&D/engineering roles
- Proven delivery of AV systems
- Audio/video processing, streaming technologies
- Familiarity with AI/ML in media
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
