The role:
 
We have a rare opportunity to serve our Sportsbook team as the VP Sportsbook Trading & Operations. Reporting to the SVP of Sports and with direct reports including the Head of Trading Operations, Head of Trading Performance & Head of Sportsbook Support, you will be a leading figure within the Pragmatic Play business on all Sportsbook related matters.
 
You are accountable for a range of managed services to all Pragmatic Play sports clients globally providing oversight into the operating model for Sports Trading, Risk Management & Sportsbook Support.
 
You are a vital conduit between your teams and all other business teams that interact on sportsbook subjects including Product, Technology, Compliance, Account Management & Onboarding, Finance, Procurement, Legal & Sales.
 
Ideally, you already have an existing trading & operations network within Sportsbook and have familiarity with all typical 3rd party products and services that directly impact Trading, Support & Operations.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Accountable for key B2B Managed Services including Trading, Risk Management, Support and other key operational services.
  • Oversee recruitment processes with direct reports, updating relevant org designs and subsequently actively participate where required in the hiring of key resources connected to the Trading Operations, Trading Performance & Sportsbook Support teams, assessing candidates, and finalizing appointments.
  • Coach, mentor and supervise a Trading Operations & Support team establishing a culture of high performance and one where high performance is rewarded, and poor performance managed accordingly.
  • Working with the SVP of Sports, Head of HR and all direct reports, you will define performance goals and milestones that indicate successful completion of the responsibilities associated with various trading, support roles & operational processes.
  • Work closely with the Head of HR on all people-related goals, coordinate department level development plans and provide a final sign-off of employee-related bonuses where necessary.
  • Actively participate in weekly, monthly and quarterly trading & support performance reviews as a key stakeholder. As a key stakeholder, you will help create innovative and scalable solutions for process improvements and automation relating to Sportsbook operations.
  • Lead and mandate initiatives to support the continuous improvement of trading performance and Sportsbook margin control.
  • Ongoing support towards algorithmic trading objectives including establishing and maintaining trading models, trading applications, tools and dashboards to support proprietary trading activity.
  • Oversight and familiarity with all 3rd party service providers, their products and dictate the strategy by which these products and services are used by operational teams including data feeds, trading tools, video streaming, widgets and more.
  • Collaborate with internal finance, procurement & legal teams ensuring accurate sign-off and future forecasting of all 3rd party costs connected to Sportsbook Trading & Operations and participate and provide advice during the contracting process where needed.
  • An important conduit between Operators, Sportsbook Support & Account Management teams, you collaborate with product & technology to ensure alignment and effective prioritisation of trading initiatives, trading features and general Sportsbook product requirements.
  • Participate in weekly Technology delivery review sessions to ensure timely progress of key operational & commercial objectives.
  • Help Customer Onboarding teams during new client launches by supporting all Trading & Operational processes during a new customer integration, contribute towards the integration plan and ensure timely customer launches.
  • Maintain familiarity with global and adapting local compliance and regulatory requirements involving all current and future operators globally particularly where there is an impact on Trading & Operational teams.
  • Develop relationships with internal Pragmatic Play business teams and external stakeholders and suppliers as well as peers and senior internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership skills to keep your team motivated to do their best work, ensure everyone feels important and to recognize the contribution needed from each team member.
  • Excellent communication skills as the go-to person for keeping all Operations teams in the loop. You will need to speak the same language as Trading, Support, Product, Technology, Finance, Legal, Procurement and more to ensure each team has the information needed to work well together.
  • Problem solving skills to help tackle problems and think strategically to decipher what went wrong and how to fix current issues ASAP.
  • Negotiation skills help influence product, technology and the subsequent roadmap and helps get the best deals when dealing with vendors or forming relationships with service providers.
  • Time Management skills to ensure you can juggle everything on your plate through setting. 
  • weekly, daily priorities to ensure your priorities get accomplished.
  • Commercial awareness, budgeting & analytical skills possessing an understanding of typical 3rd party rates and ability to budget effectively to ensure the Sportsbook operates efficiently.
  • Deep, intensive knowledge of Sportsbook operations to easily understand how multiple teams contribute towards the Sportsbook strategy of a leading B2B managed services provider.
  • Flexible approach to working hours. This role will require working with internal teams and being a key point of contact during weekends and core business hours such as evenings and public holidays. You are almost always on point.
  • Availability to travel as the role will require frequent travel to Sofia, Bulgaria to visit local Trading, Support & Operational teams.
  • High competency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Very high standard of English written and verbal communication skills to easily communicate with multiple teams both office based and remote working globally.
