Role Description: We are on the lookout for a skilled Senior Light Technician to design and implement lighting solutions for our 24/7 live studio environment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. You’ll also collaborate with other departments and mentor junior technicians to ensure smooth and efficient studio operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Lighting Design and Implementation: Design and implement lighting plans specifically tailored for a 24/7 live studio environment, ensuring consistent and high-quality lighting across all studio operations.
  • Equipment Operation, Maintenance, and Technical Issue Resolution: Operate, monitor, and maintain studio lighting equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to studio lighting equipment.
  • Daily Operations and Reporting: Report to the on-site manager regarding daily operations, equipment status, and any issues that arise. Provide updates and reports to the department director in Bucharest, ensuring alignment with broader departmental goals and standards.
  • Team Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior lighting technicians, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient operation within the live studio environment.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Cross-Departmental Coordination: Ensure that all lighting setups and operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards, particularly in a continuous operation setting. Coordinate with other technical departments to integrate lighting with audio, video, and other studio elements.
  • Work Environment Management, Recordkeeping, and Industry Trend Monitoring: Foster a friendly and supportive work environment, maintain accurate records of lighting setups, equipment inventory, and maintenance schedules. Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements relevant to live studio lighting.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Lighting Technician Experience and Equipment Knowledge: Proven experience as a Lighting Technician with a focus on live studio operations, including designing and managing lighting setups for continuous broadcasting. Extensive knowledge of studio lighting equipment and control systems.
  • Light Plot Interpretation and Safety Standards Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret light plots provided by studio designers and the director of lighting. Strong understanding of safety standards and best practices specific to live studio operations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle technical issues under pressure in a live setting.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and communicate effectively with both the on-site manager and the department director in Bucharest.
  • Organizational Skills and Shift Flexibility: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work various shifts, including very occasional nights and weekends, to support the 24/7 operation of the live studio.
  • Language: Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have:
  • Software Proficiency: Preferable knowledge in using lighting software and tools tailored for live studio environments/stages.
  • Technical Certification: Relevant technical certification or degree in lighting design, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
