The Role:
As a Legal Counsel for IP, you will be responsible for safeguarding the group’s intellectual property assets, managing IP-related legal matters, and providing strategic guidance to protect intellectual property rights.
 
Responsibilities:
  • IP Portfolio Management
    • Manage and maintain trademark and design portfolios for the group.
    • Oversee and supervise the company's trademark and patent portfolio, including conducting clearance reviews, applying for registrations, and promptly responding or taking necessary actions to maintain registration.
  • Litigation Management
    • Collaborate on IP litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsels, and overseeing legal proceedings.
  • Document Drafting and Review
    • Draft and review various IP-related documents, including trademark applications, licensing agreements, co-existence agreements, and other legal documents.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining document templates, guidelines, and processes to streamline document drafting and review procedures.
  • IP Enforcement
    • Monitor and identify potential instances of IP infringement, misappropriation, or unauthorized use through various channels, including online platforms, market research, and competitor analysis.
    • Investigate suspected cases of IP infringement by gathering evidence, conducting legal research, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist the Senior Legal Counsel – IP and Head of Brand Protection on IP infringement issues, including online takedowns, drafting and sending or responding to cease-and-desist letters, and preparing settlement agreements.
  • Strategic Counsel
    • Provide legal advice and support to the business on trademark, design, and copyright issues, conducting global risk assessments, and advising on matters related to infringements, unfair competition actions, and oppositions.
    • Contribute to an IP strategy.
    • Participate in special projects and legal research as needed.
Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with an active license or warrant to practice law in the EU.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property laws and regulations, including trademark, copyright, designs, and patents.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively convey complex legal concepts and negotiate with third parties.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations, gather evidence, and analyze legal issues related to IP enforcement matters.
  • Proficiency in legal research, case management, and document preparation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple enforcement actions and priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive IP-related information.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a focus on delivering results within established timelines and budgets.
  • Industry experience is preferred but not required.
