As a licensed Class C Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator, you will study for and obtain your Class B Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator license with the assistance of the company. You will assist the wastewater team in day to day duties of treating wastewater and assisting in the operation of a system of machines often through the use of control boards, to transfer or treat wastewater. Applicants must have a Class C Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator license from the State of South Carolina. Applicants must also have the ability and focus to successfully pursue the Class B Operator license in a timely manner. Certified SC Class B Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operators may apply with a higher salary offered.

Essential Functions

  • Inspect and operate wastewater treatment equipment on a regular basis
  • Collect and test water samples
  • Add and adjust chemicals, such as sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid, to treat wastewater
  • Monitor operating conditions through the use of meters and gages; record readings and operational data
  • Document and report test results to regulatory agencies
  • Rely on computerized systems or data sheets to help monitor plant processes
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter press, and other work areas
  • Follow U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and SCDHEC regulations
  • Ensure safety standards are met
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds and hand truck 100 pounds with assistance
