TITLE: Product Compliance Engineer

1. GENERAL FUNCTION

The Product Compliance Engineer works in Sustaining Engineering department, oversees & manages Product compliance, working with NPD and other engineers on new and existing product certification & Listing, engages with industry regulators, follow up with each individual states’ plumbing codes/regulations to assure products across the multiple PPG product lines are compliant with the latest regulations. The Engineer also manages rules of regulatory hold & release in ERP system.

The second part of this role is routine engineering tasks, including manage BOMs, label requests and labels for products both made in house and purchased complete, providing technical support, product trouble shooting and department projects on assignment basis

2. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

· Manage Product compliance program (certification/Listing) that ensure proprietary products are compliant to varies codes and regulations through Coordinating periodic applications or inspections from each of the regulatory bodies at the local, state, and federal level.

· Maintain ongoing compliance review processes, updating policies and procedures as needed to reflect industry best practices.

· Prepare and submit compliance documentations for customer as requested, provide internal product compliance training when needed

· Engage with Industry Trade Groups PPG is affiliated with, including but not limited to PMI, CEC, DOE and ISEA

· Maintain and submit operating budget for compliance program.

· Responsible for BOM, Label maintenance

· Responsible for 3rd Party product audit (compliance related)

· Provide technical support to areas responsible for

· Execute assigned continuous improvement projects (quality or cost saving)

· Other duties as assigned.

3. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Approve all expenditures of product certification and listing.

4. RELATIONSHIPS

· The Product & Compliance Engineer reports to the Sr Manager - Sustaining Engineering.

· Close interactions: Marketing, Sales, Customer Care, Operations/Manufacturing, New Product Development, Finance.

· External interactions: Code and Standards personnel, customers and outside design/engineering services.

5. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. · Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other science field

· Five (5) years of experience managing Product Compliance or Project Management or Product Engineer

· Ability to communicate effectively and interpersonal skills required

· Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and ANSI, ASTM, ASME, UL and ASSE standards.

· Experience with regulatory audits with Federal, State and 3rd party auditors

· Chrome plating processing and packaging industrial experience

· Strong communication skills (both written and oral) which are both clear & professional.
