Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Type: Part-Time, Hourly
Setting: Center & In-Home in Parsippany, New Jersey
Pay: $30-$36
Schedule: 2:30-7:30 PM Monday-Friday
Daily Responsibilities:
- Upon intake; review each child’s assessments and other related documentation provided to determine the child’s current needs.
- Provide an initial Occupational Therapy evaluation for each child, as needed, in consultation with the Senior OT Clinician.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to create a treatment plan for each child, including identifying specific occupational therapy related goals.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to autistic children utilizing a developmental approach to work towards each child’s goals and to strengthen developmental foundations.
- Monitor each child’s progress on an ongoing basis. Record session notes in the child’s Electronic Health Record and communicate progress to other members of the team, including the parents.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing supervision.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and support to new OTs as they join the team.
Requirements:
- Valid certification from the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Completion of supervised fieldwork
- Strong desire to learn the Developmental Model through training, observation and reflection
- Strong communication skills both written and oral
- Passion for working with children on the autism spectrum
- Ability to work seamlessly and respectfully on a trans-disciplinary team
