Bilingual Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
 
Job Type: Part-Time (ability to grow to full-time)
Hourly: $38.00-$40.00
Location: Center-based in Santa Barbara, CA
 
About The Role:
The Bilingual Speech Language Pathology Assistant position consists of providing 
direct clinical work, assessments and individual consultations for clients under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. This position involves learning and integrating the principles of Early Start best practices and DIRFloortime principles.

 
Job Responsibilities:
 
The Speech Language Pathology Assistant provides direct treatment to children and their families under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist by:
  • Conducting speech-language screening, without interpretation, and using age-appropriate screening
  • Provide services in Spanish when this is the child or family’s primary language
  • Following and implementing documented treatment plans or protocols
  • Documenting progress toward meeting established child and family outcomes and 
  • reporting the information
  • Conducting assessments, including, but not limited to, assisting with formal 
  • documentation, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties
  • Scheduling activities and preparing charts, records, graphs, and data. 
  • Performing checks and maintenance equipment including, but not limited to, 
  • augmentative communication devices (AAC)
  • Carry out in-home sessions specifically tailored to the child’s treatment plan.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and trainings prepared to contribute to 
  • discussions on cases presented
  • Follow administrative requests such as keeping current notes, progress reports, 
  • employee certifications, or any other required documentation/renewals necessary for 
  • continued employment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certification in California
  • Strong desire to learn a Developmental, Relationship-Based Model (DRBI) through training, observation and reflection
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Passion for working with children on the autism spectrum
  • Ability to work seamlessly and respectfully on a trans-disciplinary team 
Education:
  • Bachelor's in Speech Language Pathology   
License/Certification:
  • Active state SLPA License 
  • ASHA certification
