Position Summary

 

We are looking for a Payroll Manager who understands the value of making an impact and will do so by leading our payroll function in a dedicated and committed manner that will yield smooth operations of the function, be committed to accuracy in all transactions, and has a proven track record of successfully collaborating with key vendors and internal stakeholders. In addition, our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, has deep knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations, and has a strong desire to bring about continuous improvement in payroll operations efficiency.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee and handle multi-state semi-monthly payroll processing for approximately four hundred employees
  • Own the full-cycle payroll process by maintaining payroll systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data
  • Ensure the integrity of payroll data, including accurate earning and deduction codes and employee taxation
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Ensure all tax deposits are processed timely and accurately for each jurisdiction
  • Understand payroll strategies and deliver recommendations for continuous improvement of operational processes and systems
  • Enhance payroll reporting capabilities to provide decision support for management
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
  • Guarantee employee confidence with accurate payroll operations and with a customer-service focus
  • Keep information confidential and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner
  • Keep up-to-date on professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Establish strong partnerships with key internal organizations such as Human Resources, Benefits, and Accounting
  • Lead quarterly and year-end payroll processes and audits to ensure accurate and timely filings and processing of W-2s, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of multi-state payroll experience, CPP a plus
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Manager
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
  • Have high familiarity with payroll software ADP Workforce Now
  • Have advanced Excel skills with a keen eye for detail; experience with VLOOKUP
  • Understand imputed income and stock purchase plans
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent relationship building and business collaboration skills
  • Possess organizational and leadership skills
  • Experience participating in HRIS implementation a plus
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus
