Plex is a rapidly growing software company consistently recognized as a top workplace.  In support of our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Database Administrator to help support our complex SQL Server environment as well as various other database technologies. This position is located in Auburn Hills, MI.

 

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Installing and configuring SQL server
  • Participating in On-Call rotations
  • Troubleshooting a variety of database issues
  • Access management
  • Maintaining backups and integrity checks
  • Participating in off hours Maintenance windows
  • Routine preventative maintenance
  • Participate in a variety of projects involving database
  • Performance tuning

 

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of database design and RDBM concepts
  • Strong understanding of T-SQL concepts and syntax
  • Proven track record working in a team environment and independently
  • Capable of troubleshooting both common and complex database issues
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills with quick adaptation to change
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills – personable, effective communication style
  • SQL Administration like setting up SQL Server Agent jobs, operators, and alerts
  • Monitoring Database Server Performance

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with SQL Server
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, related degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment
  • Willing to participate in On-Call rotation

 

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of powershell
  • Maintaining a 24X7 environment
  • Administration of SQL Server Failover Clusters and Always On
  • Knowledge of Azure
  • Knowledge or prior experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Druid, Cosmos DB, MongoDB
