Playground Games is looking for a Senior Scriptwriter to join our Forza Horizon team on a contract basis. 

ABOUT US:  

As a premier first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and most of all fun. We are looking to expand our diverse team as we continue driving forward our BAFTA award-winning Forza Horizon franchise. 

About the role:

As a Senior Scriptwriter, you’ll work closely with the Game Design team to develop the game’s story and script. You’ll be a strong collaborator who writes great dialogue, memorable characters, and compelling storylines for video games. 

This is a contract role based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Royal Leamington Spa. We have a hybrid work model in place with a minimum of 3 days a week in studio. Relocation assistance is available if required.   

What you’ll do:

  • Craft compelling storylines, memorable characters, to support the project vision. 
  • Create and maintain character bios, cinematic and in-game scripts, casting briefs, and other narrative documentation. 
  • Prepare scripts for voice recording and attend recording sessions as required. 
  • Collaborate with designers to provide narrative support for design elements. 

What You’ll bring:  

  • A genuine passion for games or interactive storytelling. 
  • A demonstrable track record of quality as a writer. 
  • Several years of professional experience writing creatively for games, TV, film, theatre, comics, or related media. 
  • Exceptional story and character development skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • A natural collaborator who’s comfortable working in cross-discipline teams. 
  • Willingness to receive and provide insightful, constructive feedback. 
  • AAA games experience preferred but not required.
