Summary
Planned Companies’ clients’ properties are kept clean, secure, and welcoming with a variety of equipment and appliances requiring routine inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. Planned Companies Maintenance Services (PMS) is hiring an Appliance / Maintenance Technician with a strong focus on diagnosing and repairing residential appliances.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing dishwashers, microwaves, washers, dryers, and stoves/ovens. Experience working with Whirlpool appliances is a strong plus.
This position requires a hands-on technician who is comfortable diagnosing appliance problems, identifying faulty components, performing repairs, and traveling between different client properties. Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance is highly valued and considered a strong plus.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, troubleshoot, and repair residential appliances, including:
- Dishwashers
- Microwaves
- Washers
- Dryers
- Stoves, ranges, and ovens
- Troubleshoot appliance issues include failure to start, heating problems, draining issues, leaks, unusual noises, electrical problems, error codes, and other mechanical or operational failures.
- Inspect appliances to identify defective parts and determine the appropriate repair or replacement.
- Perform basic appliance component replacement and repairs as needed.
- Whirlpool appliance experience is a strong plus. Experience with other major appliance brands is also valuable.
- Test appliances after repairs to ensure they are operating safely and properly.
- Maintain accurate records of appliance inspections, repairs, parts used, and work performed.
- Maintain an inventory of appliance parts, maintenance supplies, and basic tools.
- Travel between different client/building sites as needed to perform appliance repairs and maintenance.
- Communicate professionally with building management and report any additional work or issues identified during service calls.
- Perform preventative maintenance on appliances and other building equipment as required.
- Troubleshot tripped breakers, leaking pipes, water intrusion, and other basic maintenance issues.
- Perform general building repairs, including doors, filters, light carpentry, floor covering, painting, plastering, locks, latches, and other minor repairs.
- Replace light fixtures, switches, receptacles, sockets, and blown light bulbs when necessary.
- Check boilers and hot water heaters for leaks and report issues to management.
- Assist with maintaining mechanical and common areas as needed.
- Maintain walkways and assist with salting during inclement weather.
- Ensure trash areas are clean and organized.
- Assist building management with projects and other duties as requested.
- Contact or coordinate with outside contractors/mechanics when specialized repairs are required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing residential appliances or a similar technical role.
- Strong appliance repair experience is required, particularly with dishwashers, microwaves, washers, dryers, and stoves/ranges/ovens.
- Whirlpool appliance experience is a strong plus.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to diagnose appliance issues and determine the appropriate repair.
- Must have basic hand tools required to perform appliance repair and maintenance work.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel/commute between different sites.
- Plumbing experience is a strong plus.
- Electrical experience is a strong plus.
- Carpentry and general building maintenance experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with preventative maintenance is a plus.
- Solid interpersonal skills, along with excellent communication skills. Bilingual is preferred.
- Good listener and able to accurately transmit information.
- Reliable, highly organized, attentive to detail, courteous, friendly, hardworking, and professional.
- Eager to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
- Extremely dependable and reliable; must be flexible to respond to emergency situations when required.
