Product Manager  

Position Summary

The Product Manager ensures production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with USDA, HACCP, and company standards. This role is responsible for maintaining full FMEAs for all production areas, leading Foreign Material (FM) and Raw Material (RM) investigations, and driving action plans that support operational excellence, food safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

FMEA & Foreign Material Control

  • Maintain complete and up‑to‑date FMEAs for all production areas, ensuring risks are identified, documented, and mitigated.
  • Conduct routine FMEA walks to proactively identify potential failure modes and process vulnerabilities.
  • Establish, track, and drive completion of action plans related to FMEA findings.
  • Engage directly in all Raw Material (RM) and Foreign Material (FM) findings, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and timely corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with QA, Maintenance, and Operations to eliminate FM sources and strengthen detection and prevention systems.

Production Planning & Scheduling 

  • Assist with planning projects, production scheduling, and processing of production orders/batch tickets.
  • Utilize SAP to create, manage, and close production orders and batch tickets.
  • Understand and maintain the Production Scheduling Board to ensure accurate sequencing and communication.
  • Update the backorder report and production schedule each morning with current production status notes.
  • Allocate production orders in advance of planned production dates to maximize equipment and labor efficiency.
  • Communicate any delays or constraints that may impact order completion.
  • Process inventory adjustments, including shortages, overages, and lot discrepancies.
  • Assist in correcting production order variances daily and at month‑end.
  • Create and develop metrics to identify constraints, delays, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely communication of schedule changes, material issues, and production impacts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
  • Work cross‑functionally to ensure alignment between production, planning, QA, and inventory control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience 

  • Degree in Operations, Logistics, Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and strong experience with MS Excel required.
  • Experience with MRP or MES systems preferred.
  • Experience in poultry or food manufacturing environments is a strong plus.
