Environmental Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading and overseeing water/wastewater engineering design
  • Providing design criteria for external engineering firms and review designs for accuracy and compliance
  • Applying innovative treatment processes to remove pollutants from water and wastewater, including emerging contaminants
  • Developing feasibility study, basis of design, and performance monitoring reports
  • Developing engineer’s construction cost estimates for treatment systems
  • Supporting permitting efforts with local, regional, and federal permitting agencies
  • Developing construction documents, including design drawings, specifications, bid forms, and startup plans
  • Conducting or overseeing field investigations and construction support services
  • Managing multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal and external stakeholders
  • Interacting with client representatives and regulatory agencies

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering, with emphasis on water or wastewater treatment or closely related discipline.  PE preferred but not required

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of direct environmental engineering experience
  • Experience leading and/or support water/wastewater treatment design projects
  • Experience with biological treatment system design
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to facilities as needed
  • Experience working on a variety of project types and in a variety of roles (e.g., project engineer and project manager) within an industrial water/wastewater environment
  • Experience in the design of systems to handle high strength nutrient loads in an industrial environment

  • Base Salary range of $108,714 - $132,086.70 +/- based on experience
