Head of Retail Category Management
 
 
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: As Head of Category Management - Retail within PPC, your responsibilities will revolve around managing and optimizing the performance of product categories.
 
This position will be based in Greeley, CO and will report to our corporate headquarters.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Category Performance Analysis: Analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer insights to assess the performance of assigned product categories. Identify growth opportunities, market gaps, and potential risks.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute category strategies aligned with overall company objectives. This involves setting performance targets, defining pricing strategies, assortment planning, and promotional activities to drive category growth and market share.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to gain insights into consumer behavior, preferences, and competitors' activities. Use this information to make informed decisions about product positioning, pricing, and assortment optimization.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate terms, contracts, and pricing agreements. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent product availability, quality, and favorable terms for the company.
  • Assortment Planning: Determine the optimal assortment of products within the category, considering consumer demand, market trends, and profitability. Regularly review and adjust the assortment to meet changing consumer preferences and maximize sales potential.
  • Promotional Planning: Develop and execute promotional plans to drive category sales, increase brand visibility, and attract new customers. Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling campaigns and measure their effectiveness.
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with supply chain and operations teams to ensure proper inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and optimize product availability. Monitor inventory turnover, forecast demand, and manage replenishment processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, such as marketing, sales, finance, and product development, to align category strategies with broader company initiatives. Ensure effective communication and coordination to drive overall business success.
  • Performance Tracking: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor category performance. Regularly track and analyze sales data, market share, profitability, and other relevant metrics to assess progress and make data-driven decisions.
  • Market Expansion: Identify opportunities for category expansion into new markets or customer segments. Develop strategies to penetrate new channels or launch products that cater to emerging consumer needs.
  • The Category Manager will report directly to the General Manager of Prepared Foods and will have direct responsibility of the P&L
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 15+ years relevant CPG experience in Marketing with full P&L ownership.
  • Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills a must.
  • Proven strategic influencing.
  • Ability to analyze syndicated data and provide insights.
  • Retail perishable meat experience preferred but not required.
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $200,000 - $250,000;
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
