SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supervision of quality programs, including the planning and implementation of the quality management program. Also supervises product specification testing and other highly complex quality programs. This position directs, administers, and works with all levels of plant personnel. Oversees and administers the functioning of the facility Quality Assurance programs and those individuals associated with the program. Must have initiative and follow through on a timely basis to make sure execution and documentation are carried out to meet the established guidelines of the program.

Each day, temperature screens are performed for each employee and visitor before entering the facility. Face coverings are available to all team members and enhanced cleaning and sanitation is regularly performed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as production demands may require.
- Organizes and coordinates the activities of quality team around implementation of quality and food safety programs and standards.
- Recommends new quality policies and procedures as necessary to ensure high quality products, processes and services.
- Communicates programs and standards to quality team and other plant employees. Coordinates training.
- Conducts other tests, microbial testing and assigned projects.
- Maintains good communication and working relationship with the quality team and operations and USDA personnel.
- Ensures that all USDA regulations are followed and that Pilgrim's and customer quality programs meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Responsible for developing, maintaining and directing the work schedules of hourly employees.
- Make sure that all phases of the HACCP and SSOP programs are being carried out according to the written procedures and formats which have been established.
- Review HACCP and SSOP records for completeness and correctness.
- Coordinate answers for NRs with plant supervision and management.
- Do PSR’s every hour or as required.
- Make changes to the SSOP and HACCP plans when necessary.
- Ensure employees are abiding by the GMP rules.
- Weekly and monthly reports and graphs.
- Annual review of the HACCP and SSOP plans
- Do a monthly walk through of the plant and conduct a GMP audit.
- Assist in the administration of the Quality Assurance department, to include overseeing Quality Assurance Technicians and appropriate QA compliance, in conjunction with QA Manager.
- Any additional tasks assigned by QA and plant management on an as needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED; Associates Degree required. College degree in related field strongly preferred.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years DIRECTLY RELATED work experience.
- Previous Supervisory experience required; in a poultry/food environment a plus.
- Must have an understanding of USDA and OSHA regulations.
- Working knowledge of HACCP and SSOP plans
- Knowledge of GMP requirements
- Must have proficient computer skills. SAP experience a plus.
- Must have good leadership skills.
- Self motivated and able to work well with others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work varying days (including occasional weekends) shifts in order to meet deadlines overtime as needed

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/METHODS:
All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties. Once the employee completes this training they will be assigned to a Supervisor who will further orient the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her to employees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingress and egress procedures to and from work station. A training buddy may be assigned to new employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Those responsible for training and indoctrination may include: personnel representatives, safety director, supervisors, and lead workers.
METHOD OF TRACKING EMPLOYEE PROGRESS:
The supervisor is accountable for tracking employee progress and performance.
EXIT TRAINING FOR MEASURING TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS:
A specific probationary period is assigned to all employees hired to evaluate employee effectiveness and performance. At the end of this period the supervisor will evaluate the job performance of each new employee utilizing current forms and procedures in effect at that time. The employee will be rated and evaluated on essential work duties listed above as well as attendance, tardiness, interaction with co-workers and management, attitudes and work actions. Unacceptable performance of duties and disciplinary actions will be documented on corrective action reports and appropriate personnel records. Absent any negative actions, the employee may be eligible for a wage increase according to the wage and salary policies in effect at that time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
List any and all personal safety or health protection equipment and gear required by either regulatory, sanitary, or safety procedures.
The employee is required to wear a hair net, beard net (if necessary) and slip proof boots.
