Sensory Technician

 

 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: As a Sensory Technician, you will assist the Sensory Team in conducting sensory tests (Descriptive Analysis, Discrimination, and Consumer Tests) to support business objectives. This role requires a proactive, self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work autonomously under direct supervision of the Sensory Manager to assist in executing sensory tests, ensuring proper protocols are followed (Discrimination, Affective, and Descriptive Analysis).
  • Prepare and serve products for sensory studies, ensuring accuracy.
  • Follow and develop study protocols to maintain consistency across tests.
  • Organize and execute consumer panels, including product procurement, panelist scheduling, and utilizing sensory software.
  • Ensure timely data entry and manage sensory data and product data for analysis.
  • Source samples, both online and in-store, following company procedures.
  • Participate in tastings, sensory training, and product evaluations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, including equipment maintenance and inventory management.
  • Assist in sensory training and support trainings for other teams (e.g., R&D, Pilot Plant, Culinary).
  • Manage proper sample receiving, storage, and logging.
  • Contribute to improving sensory lab processes.
  • Assist R&D personnel with Pilot Plant projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent a must, college credits a plus, associate or bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Prior experience or internship in sensory or other lab setting, preferred.
  • Familiarity with sensory evaluation methodologies, preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Customer service experience. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software tools. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for most of the workday. 
  • Analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Able to work independently and within a team. 
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

 

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $20.00 – $24.00/hour;
