POSITION SUMMARY:
Primary position responsibility is for transportation and delivery of live chicks as well as pickup of hatching eggs. Other responsibilities include backing up hatchery labor positions as well as other live production CDL driving positions throughout the complex in a safe and efficient manner.  This will include operating a forklift, moffat, and other power industrial trucks.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Drives truck to pick up eggs and deliver chicks.
  • Complete all computer and paperwork associated with egg pickup and chick delivery.
  • Loads and unloads chicks and/or egg racks onto the trailer and into the hatchery and barns completing all necessary reports.
  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with divisional guidelines and DOT requirements.
  • Operates and maintains equipment in a safe and efficient manner, keeping trucks and work areas neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Communicates with team members and leadership regarding all relevant information.
  • Ability to be on call for Wednesday and Saturday egg pickups.
  • Willing to learn to back up all live side CDL positions.
  • Assist chick processing and transfer team crews with daily responsibilities and sanitation procedures.
  • Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies. 
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.
  • Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES            
  • Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record per Company policy required or ability to obtain.
  • High School Diploma or GED with one to three years driving experience.
  • Ability to compute percentages and fractions.    
  • Forklift license required or ability to obtain a license.    
  • Ability to perform light maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold as well as dusty and wet work environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, i.e. bar code scanner, equipment stacking grids.
  • Must have a valid Class A Driver’s license with up-to-date Medical Card.  An acceptable driving record, according to Company Policy 622 is required and must be maintained, (Possession of single, valid operator’s license with appropriate vehicle classification for operators state of residence; no incident in prior 36 months in which the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs; no incident in prior 36 months of reckless/careless driving; no major driving violations)for Lockout/Tagout safety as well as other company safety programs and policies.
  • *Willing to obtain Class A CDL (commitment to work in driving position for 2 years upon completion).
