Wastewater Supervisor

The Wastewater Supervisor is responsible for managing water and wastewater treatment operations, bi‑product shipments, storm water prevention, and the research and development of cost‑efficient departmental standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
• Supervise water treatment, wastewater treatment, and the offal and feather screen area.
• Lead and oversee department operators, including training, development, and motivation to achieve maximum quality and productivity.
• Manage daily sampling protocols for Phosphorus, TSS, BOD, and FOG to ensure regulatory reporting compliance.
• Compile water, wastewater, and storm water prevention reports, inspections, and records, including Tier 2 reporting, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), boiler and air permits, wastewater reporting, storm water permits, and other documentation required by city, company, EPA, and DNR regulations.
• Serve as a liaison with the City Water/Wastewater Department and City Utility Commission, including providing monthly DMR reports.
• Complete the Discharge Monitoring Report for the city on a monthly basis.
• Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and budgets; monitor and explain variances.
• Research and develop cost‑efficient standards for the department.
• Maintain equipment within the water and wastewater department, coordinating maintenance and sanitation activities.
• Oversee scheduling, movement, and loading of bi‑product trailers.
• Monitor water usage and waste, optimize sampling protocols and water reuse efforts, and assist management with improvement initiatives.
• Support other departments with water reuse, quality, continuous improvement projects, and quantity reduction efforts.
• Collaborate with other departments in administering Environmental Audits and the Operational Excellence Program within the complex.
Skills & Qualifications
• Ability to observe and enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.
• Post‑secondary education in water/wastewater, biology, chemistry, or related fields and one to three years of experience in water and wastewater systems;
OR more than three years of experience without post‑secondary education.
• Possess, or be willing to obtain within one year, a pre‑treatment wastewater operator’s license.
• Forklift trainer certification, or willingness to obtain within one year.
• Poultry processing experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and management.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Demonstrated skill and experience in leading and developing people.
