Hatchery Maintenance Mechanic
At Pilgrim’s, Safety Is A Condition, which means the safety of our team members comes first - always.
We have implemented safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We are working to ensure social distancing within our facility. We have installed physical barriers throughout our facility such as plexi-glass or plastic barriers between team member work stations. Each day, temperature screens are performed for each employee and visitor before entering the facility. Face coverings are provided and required over the mouth and nose at all times when inside the facility, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation is regularly performed.
Hatchery maintenance mechanics are responsible for keeping all hatchery equipment running and the preventative maintenance done on all equipment. Equipment list is as follows:
Separator
Tray Washer
Macerator
Vacuum system
Hatchers
Setters
A/C units
Heaters
Chick counters
Evaporative Coolers
Intelliject machines
Unstop Drains
Replace light fixtures
Recam setters
Generators
Chiller
Replace wheels on farm racks and hatcher dollies
Fix anything that needs repair
Requirements:
- Must be dependable.
- Must be able to bend, squat and lift approximately 50 lbs. The job requires some overhead lifting of about 20 lbs when working in setters.
- Must be able to work in temperature up to 100 degrees in setters; however, there are overhead fans in the setters circulating the air.
- Must be able to climb a ladder at times carrying about 15 lbs (?) (weight of a 1/15 HP motor with blower wheel attached).
- Must have electrical knowledge and able to work with electricity such as wiring, motors, light fixtures, running conduit, replacing motors and working around electronic control boards.
- Must be able to climb stairs onto the roof once every month to clean filters and wash out A/C units and make repairs as needed.
- Must be able to climb a ladder.
