SUMMARY
 
The Maintenance Planning Specialist is responsible for developing and overseeing maintenance plans to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment and facilities. This role involves defining technical criteria, providing technical support, conducting failure analysis, and implementing improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce costs. The supervisor will also train maintenance teams, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, this position will supervise the Fabricator, PM Planner, and Maintenance Coordinator.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as production demands may require.
 
  • Define the technical criteria for the elaboration of maintenance plans.
  • Provide technical support for the maintenance supervisions.
  • Conduct studies of components and nationalization.
  • Participate in failure analysis, providing technical and methodological support.
  • Lead improvement work to reduce losses and costs and increase reliability.
  • Analyze maintenance performance indicators and propose corrective actions for deviations.
  • Review maintenance plans and create technical standards for maintenance.
  • Train maintenance teams.
  • Support management in maintenance, ensuring compliance with standards and legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Coordinate with production and operations teams to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting production.
  • Evaluate and recommend new maintenance tools, technologies, and practices to improve efficiency.
  • Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and quality maintenance services.
  • Conduct regular audits of maintenance processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Supervise the Fabricator, PM Planner, and Maintenance Coordinator, ensuring their tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a maintenance planner or coordinator role.
  • Technical Skills: 
    • Strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance and electrical functions.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering documents, drawings, and schematics.
    • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
  • Communication Skills: 
    • Ability to write detailed repair reports.
    • Good verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: 
    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues.
    • Strong analytical skills to evaluate maintenance performance indicators and propose corrective actions.
  • Organizational Skills: 
    • Ability to build and maintain a maintenance library for repairs.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage maintenance schedules and inventory.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/METHODS: 
All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties.  Once the employee completes this training they will be assigned to a Supervisor who will further orient the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her to employees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingress and egress procedures to and from work station.  A training buddy may be assigned to new employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.
 
 
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Those responsible for training and indoctrination may include:  personnel representatives, safety director, maintenance manager.
 
METHOD OF TRACKING EMPLOYEE PROGRESS: 
The Maintenance Manager is accountable for tracking employee progress and performance.
 
EXIT TRAINING FOR MEASURING TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS:
A specific probationary period is assigned to all employees hired to evaluate employee effectiveness and performance.  At the end of this period the supervisor will evaluate the job performance of each new employee utilizing current forms and procedures in effect at that time.  The employee will be rated and evaluated on essential work duties listed above as well as attendance, tardiness, interaction with co-workers and management, attitudes and work actions.  Unacceptable performance of duties and disciplinary actions will be documented on corrective action reports and appropriate personnel records.  Absent any negative actions, the employee may be eligible for a wage increase according to the wage and salary policies in effect at that time.
