Position Summary
The Queen’s Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Obstetrician-Gynecologist (OB-GYN) to join our Women’s Health team. This physician will provide comprehensive medical and surgical care related to pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the female reproductive system. The ideal candidate embraces a patient-centered, holistic approach to care and is committed to excellence in clinical practice, education, and collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide medical and surgical care related to pregnancy and the female reproductive system.
- Perform routine and emergent gynecologic surgical procedures.
- Manage all aspects of pregnancy, from prenatal diagnosis through delivery and postpartum care.
- Conduct physical examinations, obtain medical histories, and screen for breast, cervical, and ovarian cancers.
- Monitor maternal and fetal health throughout pregnancy and detect potential complications.
- Support holistic, non-interventional obstetrical care when appropriate.
- Deliver babies via vaginal or cesarean delivery, based on clinical indications.
- Provide patient- and family-centered care, involving patients in decision-making and care planning.
- Counsel patients on contraception, fertility options, preventive care, and lifestyle factors.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation, order entry, and compliance with QMC, CMS, and PATH standards.
- Collaborate with practice management to ensure accurate billing, coding, and CPT code assignment.
- Provide interdepartmental consultations and coordinate specialty care as needed.
- Participate in on-call coverage and respond to urgent calls per departmental guidelines.
- Promote a collaborative, respectful, and team-based approach to care delivery.
- Adhere to all institutional policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Contribute to the development of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and patient care standards.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
Academic and Research Responsibilities
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in collaboration with the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine (UH JABSOM) and Hawai‘i Residency Programs (HRP).
- Support clinical research initiatives in partnership with UH JABSOM, The Queen’s Medical Center, and The Queen’s University Medical Group (QUMG).
- Participate in the development of educational programs and contribute to the training of future healthcare professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited School of Medicine or valid ECFMG certification.
- Completion of an ACGME-, AOA-, or ABOG-accredited residency or fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawai‘i.
- Board certification (or eligibility) in Obstetrics and Gynecology by ABMS, AOA, or ABOG. Board certification must be obtained within two (2) years of hire if not already certified.
- Active medical staff membership or eligibility at The Queen’s Medical Center with appropriate privileges.
- Eligibility for faculty appointment at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine (preferred).
Base salary begins at $343,879/year with opportunity for productivity and quality incentives.
