Summary: The Podiatrist operates in a team with other health center providers and support staff to provide podiatric care to all age groups in accordance with the scope of practice. The Podiatrist provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to Petaluma Health Center patients, while making reasonable and sound medical assessments and treatment plans.
Areas of Responsibility:
·       Physical examinations
·       Development of differential diagnoses
·       Order laboratory and imaging studies
·       Medications and referrals, when appropriate
·       Office based podiatric procedures including but not limited to the following: nail clipping, nail removal, orthotic casting, foot injections and aspiration, removal of minor lesions of the foot
·       Administer and prescribe treatments as appropriate
·       Promote healthy lifestyles by advising patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention
·       Document patient information, both timely and accurately as per protocol
·       Effectively manage problems that require follow-up
·       Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with team members to proactively drive improvement initiatives as requested
 
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
·       Graduate from an accredited Podiatry program
·       Completion of an accredited Podiatric residency program preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
·       Board Certified DPM with current California License in good standing and DEA
·       Candidate must be able to successfully meet PHC’s credentialing and privileging requirements
Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and requests from patients, co-workers, and others as necessary. Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal preferred.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to recognize problems, collect data and establish facts.
Computer Skills: High level of computer literacy and proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic medical records and web applications.
