Summary:
The OB/GYN will provide quality obstetric and gynecologic care in a compassionate and caring environment. Work as an integral part of the Medical staff by participating in all strategic initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to hospital call, supervision of CNM, FP-OB staff, and assignment to outside locations within PHC federal scope such as satellite clinics.
Areas of Responsibility:
Diagnose and treat all patients presenting for obstetric and gynecologic issues in accordance with ACOG standards.
• Provide specialty evaluation for women referred for gynecology issues.
• Diagnose pregnancy, performs initial and subsequent prenatal exams as necessary consistent with the protocols developed by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology for routine and high risk pregnancies.
• May also provide comprehensive medical care to all women who are present for care concerning the reproductive and genitourinary systems including preventive, maintenance and acute care of said system consistent with the scope of duties and responsibilities for which the OB/GYN has been privileged by the Health Center Board of Directors.
Provide after-hours coverage including nights and weekends, as required.

• Provide consultation to other Petaluma Health Center clinicians regarding OB/GYN care.

• Participate in in-house in-services trainings, provider meetings, performance improvement and other meetings as assigned.
• Provide continuing medical education to providers at least twice yearly on   Ob/Gyn topics as assigned.
• Supervise Certified Nurse Midwives’ management of obstetrical care and labor management.
 
• Communicate effectively with the patient throughout the physician patient relationship, provide appropriate patient education, and demonstrate respect for the culturally determined needs of patients.
• Show consistent and determined intent to meet competence, meeting or exceeding the community standard of care.
• Maintain active hospital privileges in good standing and maintain all certifications, continuing medical education hours, and obstetric department attendance and activity.
 
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
 
Education/Experience:
• Graduate of an accredited OB/GYN residency program.
• 2–4 years OB/GYN post residence experience preferred.
Desired Skills:
• Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Decisive and judicious decision making skill.
• Possess ability to work with a diverse population.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possess license to practice medicine in the State of California.
Board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Eligible for, and maintains, admitting privileges at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Candidate must be able to successfully meet PHC’s credentialing and privileging requirements.

Language Skills:

Candidate Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal preffered but not required.
