What you will do:
The RN obtains a health history on patients on admission. Receives and administers orders for IV infusions, blood transfusions, injections and phlebotomies. Assesses and monitors patients during the administration of medication. Provides patient education on the medications and their side effects. Instructs patients on the care and use of pumps when sent home with the patient.
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education:
BSN
Required Skills:
Current nursing assessment and patient care skills, ability to communicate effectively, ability to master new skills.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of IV Therapy processes and procedures
Required Licensure/Registration/Certification:
Unrestricted Texas license as a Registered Nurse and Basic Life Support
Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification:
Oncology Certified Nurse
Required Experience:
2 years experience as an RN in a hospital or outpatient environment.
Preferred Experience:
One year experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center or Infusion Center
