What you will do:
Acts as patient advocate during the perioperative period by assisting in implementing a plan to protect the patient from injury, wrong site surgery, infection and retained instruments. Assists the team in coordinating the patient’s care between providers and hospital staff. Supports the patient’s physical and emotional needs, while assisting the surgeon. Ensures all supplies, implants and instruments are available for the procedure. This position has call requirements
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited First Assistant Program and Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
Required Technical Skills:
Basic computer keyboard skills
Preferred Technical Skills:
Meditech proficiency
Required Licensure /Registration /Certification:
Certification as a First Assistant
Preferred Licensure / Registration / Certification:
Basic Life Support
Required Experience:
2 years s a surgical RN, surgical LVN, or CST
Preferred Experience:
One or more years as a CST, 1 or more years as a Certified Surgical First Assistant
