Peter Pan Seafood is currently looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer whose primary purpose will be to assist in overseeing the safe operation and daily monitoring of the maintenance for the processing plant.  Under direction, organizes, monitors, and supervises facility maintenance operations; performs a variety of technical tasks relative to facility maintenance; aids the Chief Engineer.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assists in planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, reviewing, and participating in the work of staff responsible for facility maintenance.

 

  • Assists in establishing schedules and methods for providing facility maintenance services; identify resource needs; review needs with Chief Engineer; allocate resources accordingly.

 

  • Assist in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make

recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures.

 

  • Participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to

ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.

 

  • Assist in the preparation and administration of the facility maintenance budget; submit budget

recommendations; monitor expenditures; prepare cost estimates; submit justifications for equipment, monitor budget expenditures.

 

  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment; order supplies and tools as necessary; prepare documents for equipment procurement; prepare specifications and contracts for contract services.

 

  • Assists in training or coordinating training in facility maintenance and safety methods, procedures, and techniques.

 

  • Assists in developing and organizing preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment.

 

  • Assists in coordinating construction projects, remodels, and other special projects.

 

  • Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals, and reports.

 

  • Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit.

 

  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and

developments in the field of facility maintenance; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.

 

  • Assists in coordinating with contractors in providing contract services.

 

 

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Mechanical field of study is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Fishing industry required

 

 

Skills

 

The incumbent will be highly experienced in multiple Engineering skills, including general knowledge of Millwright, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electrical, Electrical Control, PLC, IT, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Diesel Engines, Rolling Stock, Inventory, Building Maintenance, General Construction, Painting, Fabricating and Welding Processes. A working knowledge of industrial machine and facilities maintenance and repair is necessary. Skills and extensive knowledge and experience in refrigeration theory, operation, and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on both low temp and RSW systems are also a requirement. Project research, project planning, project design, project implementation and project parts ordering

  • Extensive knowledge and familiarity with components including reciprocating and screw compressors, pumps, motors, valves, evaporators, and heat exchangers.
  • Able to read and understand P&ID Diagrams and follow flow diagrams.
  • Familiar with electronic controls and sensing techniques common to production and refrigeration
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, safety, national electrical code, and lockout/tag out.
  • Proficient at electrical blueprint reading and electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Proficient at electrical controls troubleshooting and repair
  • Safe work practices, particularly regarding NH3 (anhydrous ammonia).
