Commercial Financial Analyst – Decision Support

Vauxhall, London.

Business partner to Sales, Marketing and Commercial Strategy within the UK Consumer Selfcare Business to support the Wellness Portfolio Pod and Convenience and Discounters sales channel enabling delivery of the targets and the identification, evaluation and recommendation of value adding opportunities and initiatives. Additionally, to support the improvement of commercial processes and the delivering of cross functional finance for non-finance training.

Responsibilities

Business Partnership to relevant Portfolio pod

  • Ongoing support in delivering the portfolio net revenue and contribution targets across the monthly actuals and forecast cycles
  • Support in understanding the main business drivers and working on adding value solutions within the portfolio
  • Partner with CSI and marketing in building the 5-year plan and budget for the relevant portfolio
  • Evaluation of risks and opportunities and course correction initiatives
  • Support marketing and sales in improving the customer and sku mix
  • Ad hoc analysis and scenario modelling and recommendation
  • Support on major projects across all portfolios

Support the new product development / introduction within the relevant portfolio

  • Ownership of the financial assumptions in the stage gate P&L for NPDs and NPIs
  • Liaise with commercial functions, ops finance and Corporate to explore the most profitable options
  • Scenario modelling, risk assessment and recommendations to senior management
  • Evolution of projects KPIs from both local and Group perspective
  • Post launch evaluation

Business partnership to the relevant sales channel

  • Ongoing support in delivering the channel net revenue and margin targets across the monthly actuals and forecast cycles
  • Building a full P&L by customer to enable investment decisions in trades spend as well as A&P
  • Partner with sales and CSI to evaluate and recommend adding value opportunities that improve the profitability of the channel
  • ROI on trade spend investments
  • Supporting the modelling of customer JBP agreements for the relevant sales channel, including scenario modelling and recommendation
  • Ad hoc queries and analysis

Improvement of cross functional processes and training

  • Improvement of existing cross functional processes (stage gate, portfolio pod reviews, budget, sales channel reviews etc.)
  • Challenge of stage gate assumptions, preparation and delivering of stage gate training sessions for CSI and marketing
  • Finance for non-finance training – ideation, preparation and delivering
  • Promo evaluation - process ideation and implementation in liaise with Commercial Strategy
  • Consolidation and evaluation of JBP terms across sales channels

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience in a commercial finance environment, preferably FMCG/Healthcare
  • Experience in business partnering, preferably sales and marketing
  • Good understanding of the commercial drivers of the business
  • Proven ability to come up with initiatives and creative solutions to commercial challenges
  • Strong analytical, influencing & presentation skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with both senior and junior finance and non-finance colleagues
  • A proactive attitude and a positive approach
