Perrigo Nutritionals, in Georgia, VT is looking to hire a Director of Operations to their team. 

Description

Provides leadership direction to one or more assigned nutritional manufacturing and/or packaging facilities, including plant operations (production, packaging, warehouse and supports production engineering, maintenance / calibration).  This position is a key member of the site leadership team.

Manages all operations of the assigned nutritional manufacturing and packaging facilities, ensures that all operations comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices, reviews and approves Standard Operating Procedures for plant operations and related functions, and monitors training and enforcement to ensure SOPs are followed.

Develops strategic operating plans and responds to changing business conditions, with an emphasis on customer satisfaction through continuous process improvement.

Drives and work with team members to deliver excellence through a focus on process efficiency and other strategic manufacturing initiatives

Develop, drive, and/or support initiatives to manage risk and improve processes related to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and customer relations.

Emphasizes employee safety and maintains a very strong safety culture at all times.  Provides leadership to safety efforts within the plant, monitoring safety performance and ensuring coaches provide appropriate training and direction to provide a safe working environment.  Teams with EHS Manager to meet or exceed safety initiatives.

Leads continuous improvement initiatives: working with engineers, managers, other production support staff and other departments to improve procedures and/or evaluate equipment.  Participates in morning GEMBA identify/coordinating daily initiatives.

Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data.

Collaboratively works with Quality Department on overall product quality and compliance assuring safe and timely product to our customers.  Participates in on-site quality audits.

Financial proficiency required to establish all required budgets and resource plans for the manufacturing operations.

Monitor and perform within the forecasted plan. Identify, communicate, and drive labor, other variable, and base cost leverage.

Ensures compliance with company policies and rules of conduct and addresses performance issues appropriately.  Teams with HR on employee relations, compensation review, and helps identify training needs.

Leads commitment and follow-through on items noted on Employee Survey.

Teams with Planning to assure short and long-term production goals are met or exceeded.

Develops staffing and cost proposals for the fiscal year and strategic planning cycle, monitors and controls costs and productivity throughout the year to ensure production goals are met. Responsible for execution of business & production plan and adhering to budget schedule.

Works with Managers to monitor production schedules and adjust staffing to meet these schedules.

Supports engineering and maintenance resources to execute capital project, drive improvements, assure customer service, maintenance operations and facilities and maintain cGMP standards.

Conducts succession planning for short and long-term coverage.  Monitors all training and provides development opportunities to staff.

Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.

Required Experience

Twelve plus years of increasingly responsible experience in a dairy, food or GMP environment.

Proven track record in overcoming business challenges.

Must have demonstrated strong leadership skills, included well-developed communication and problem-solving skills.  Ability to provide direction across multiple areas.

Bachelor’s degree is required.

Past sales/customer interaction a plus.

SAP experience is preferred.

Some travel is required.
