Reporting to the Packaging Supervisor in Plant 7, this position will be responsible for all aspects of line operation. Core skills will include: Packing/inspecting, regular in-process checks of quality attributes, loading skids, completing packaging cards, etc. Will assist in line clean up, set-up, change over and product quality. Will be required to follow and comply with Departmental SOP’s, GMP’s and Safety/Housekeeping guidelines.  Will work as a memeber of a 3-7 member team, operating automated packaging equipment.  During each 8-12 hour shift, team members rotate through different stations on the assigned line.  Will operate and ensure proper operation of bottle unscramblers, fillers, sealers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, tapers, case-erectors and case-packers.  Will ensure adequate supplies are loaded at assigned stations and operate power-assisted and manual equipment to move materials to and from the packaging line, and will load supplies into hoppers or dispensing equipment.  Manual packaging responsibilities such as dropping and case packing are sometimes required.  Will inspect production prior to packaging to ensure accuracy and will inspect packaged productions throughout the shift to ensure equipment is operating correctly.  Will also conduct finished goods inspection for quality.  Will make minor adjustments to the equipment when appropriate.  Will clean the work area throughout the shift, gathering packaging materials, moving empty skids and sweeping floors.  May also assist in recording production and inspection data, completing documentation and paperwork as necessary.

High School diploma (or G.E.D.). Excellent attendance and work record. Mechanical aptitude. Frequent bending and lifting of up to 20lbs. Must have strong teamwork skills. Must be able to fulfill core skills within 30 days or 1 month.  It is a requirement of the position that prospective employees possess and demonstrate a working knowledge of computers in order to perform necessary tasks such as finding and reading procedures a tthe computer terminals.  Basic math and reading/comprehension skills.

Must be able to stand for length of shift, with breaks every 2 hours.  (85% of total shift)  Must be able to lift 10 lbs continuously, up to 30 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.  Must be able to ascend descend stepladders up to 7 steps high.  Must be able to push and pull handcarts, skids, and drums weighing up to 600 lbs.  Must be able to stop or bend to adjust machines and clean the work area frequently.  Must be able to reach laterally, and overhead occasionally.  Must be able to work at each station on the packaging line and maintain the pace.  Position requires the use of arms and hands in a reptetitive manner.  Must be able to work a minimun of 40 hours per week. Be able to see, hear and understand signs, labels, and  instructions. This may include having vision (corrected or uncorrected) that meets the requirements of a valid driver’s license.  Complete a operator restriction for to verify these items.

May experience exposure to aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen or other OTC medication dust is possible as products are loaded into hoppers.  These dusts may be considered sensitizers that could affect an individual who has allergies to such materials.
