Intern - Manufacturing Engineer - Oral Care Business Unit [Ranir]

Engineering/Technical Operations Grand Rapids, Michigan



  • Evaluate manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality

  • Evaluate production equipment and product output, conducting root cause analyses as able; support continuous improvement activities and process improvements activities

  • Understand manufacturing concepts including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate to support other Engineering Projects as assigned



  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering, science, or technical program or equivalent with a minimum of 2 completed years of undergraduate studies

  • Preferred: Applicable studies or work experience in equivalent courses in value stream mapping, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, data mining and document writing

  • Preferred: Minimum 6 months prior experience working in corporate or manufacturing environments, with working understanding of manufacturing processes and how various processes impact upstream & downstream work

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present to leadership, successfully work with peer group, and communicate with frontline organization

  • Ability to work with speed in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands to quickly deliver customer solutions to market

  • Proficiency with PC skills such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and with the ability to quickly learn various in-house software applications as needed

  • Authorized to work in the United States without work sponsorship

  • Available to maintain employment through the length of the assignment estimated for May 2020 through August 2020.
