POSITION SUMMARY

The position of Laboratory Engineer Technician is responsible for collaborating with contract manufacturers to receive and catalog samples of finished oral care products, components and raw materials for testing and retention. The position will have regular interaction with local and global product development teams, quality engineering and manufacturing staff, and suppliers to Perrigo Oral Care.  Responsibilities include quality testing products to prescribed requirements and test schedule, and accurate maintenance and analysis of data records and metrics. This position is required to perform R&D testing to support product development activities. This position is responsible for participating in investigations when tested products or materials are out of specification to determine corrective action. 

 

This position is based in Perrigo Oral Care’s manufacturing location in Changshu city.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers and suppliers to receive and catalog samples of finished oral care products, and components and materials for testing and retention
  • Utilize specialized lab equipment to conduct physical and quality testing of finished products and raw materials on regular basis according to standard operating procedures; conduct visual inspection of products and materials following established methods
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of testing results and report results to manufacturing and engineering teams; utilize and maintain database on SharePoint
  • Identify out of spec material or test results and conduct analysis for root cause; present proposed correction to team and participate in corrective action when needed
  • Prioritize workload and departmental needs to a test schedule to meet individual and company deadlines
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment according to GMP, GLP, and 5S standard; ensure lab meets organization needs for accurate and sustainable test practices
  • Adhere to existing SOPs and assist in development or improvement of SOPs and other lab procedures
  • Regularly examine test methods and procedures to ensure appropriateness and ISO standard; assist in creating and optimizing test processes and testing fixture and equipment design
  • Perform R&D testing per request, including design verification/validation testing and product comparison analysis
  • Support Marketing, Operations, overseas labs and contract manufacturers in NPD projects as needed
  • Operate 3D printing equipment and perform necessary post processing.
  • Assist the engineering team with prototyping and mock up product as needed.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or other applicable physical science field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin, strong written communication skills in English, with demonstrated ability to successfully work with all levels of organization
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory testing environment with a preference for experience in a quality control laboratory environment
  • Proficient PC skills such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and statistical software with a functional knowledge of Statistics
  • Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and experience managing a laboratory
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO13485 and ISO17025
  • Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and experience managing a laboratory
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and manage internal resources, outside contractors, and suppliers
  • Ability to work independently to deliver on multiple objectives and goals according to business commitments

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic daily verbal English communication skills or better
  • Ability to conduct general engineering and design work, including 2D CAD drawing and 3D CAD modeling, in order to build test fixtures for customized needs
