This role involves managing company finances, investor relations, and business operations alongside the CEO. It requires strong organizational, project-management, interpersonal, and communication skills. The VP of Finance and Business Operations reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This position also works closely with, and has the support of, the Executive Assistant/Investor Relations Liaison.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the CEO with strategic planning, resource allocation, and business transactions.
- Responsible for financial modeling and analysis.
- Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Oversee the external accounting firm for accounts payable, banking, and financial statements.
- Oversee the external tax/audit firm(s) for taxes, audits, and related matters.
- Manage the generation of quarterly and annual financials and other reports required for the Board of Directors, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and help close key investors, including strategics and acquisition path.
- Participate in virtual and in-person investor presentations and booths. Some travel is required.
- Project manage investor prospects from interest to close, ensuring close management of each step.
- Manage information flow with timely and accurate communications to and from investors.
- Work with other team members to prepare forecasts, budgets, and pro forma financials.
- Oversee various other business and regulatory operations (insurance, state and federal reports, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of (5) five years of experience in a senior finance position.
- Extensive expertise and experience in accounting, auditing, and the preparation of financial statements.
- Significant proficiency and experience in financial management, particularly in capital raising (fundraising).
- Experience in developing financial presentations and reports for C-suite executives, Board of Directors, and investors.
- Experience in medical device or life science industry preferred.
- Experience in startup companies is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft 365 suite.
- Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field with a specialization in finance and possess five years of relevant experience. Candidates may also hold a master's degree in the related fields with two years of relevant experience.
