Mission Critical Senior Project Manager

The PENTA Building Group is searching for Senior Project Managers to join our Mission Critical team in Phoenix, AZ! This role will be a major contributor to our growing efforts in the Data Center/Mission Critical market sector. Relocation packages, travel stipends, and bonuses offered for out-of-state candidates.
A PENTA Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the team on the successful delivery of mission critical construction projects with a primary focus on managing project cost, schedule, and team performance. This role oversees the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout ensuring safety, quality, and performance goals are met, and maintains strong relationships with clients, design partners, and subcontractors to ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes for mission critical facilities
A PENTA Senior Project Manager on mission critical projects will also:
- Operate as the main point of contact with Owners, end users, and design teams on mission critical projects, maintaining clear and timely communication and building strong professional relationships.
- Establish project guidelines, procedures, and reporting structures consistent with company and client mission critical standards. Ensure compliance with internal processes and contractual requirements.
- Complete the project startup checklist, implement initial project activities, and assign ownership for key deliverables.
- Set up and oversee document control systems, including managing the Project Engineers on RFI, submittal, and procurement tracking, ensuring accuracy from kickoff through closeout.
- Lead Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and internal project meetings, addressing higher-level coordination, schedule, and cost matters.
- Analyze and negotiate contract scopes of work with subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepare detailed scope exhibits and ensure alignment of all contract documentation.
- Identify and process scope changes and formalize subcontractor and owner change orders promptly.
- Consolidate the contract estimate into a working project budget.
- Develop and manage the schedule of values and project cost reports.
- Review monthly financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Continually update project forecasts to maintain visibility on cost performance.
- Partner with the General Superintendent to develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones reflect mission critical sequencing and turnover requirements.
- Track potential change events and communicate with Owners on impacts to budget or schedule.
- Accurately prepare and lead monthly project report meetings summarizing progress, risks, and next steps.
- Monitor project insurance and bonding requirements to ensure compliance with both project-specific and company standards.
- Understand and manage requirements such as Builders Risk and CCIP, and coordinate resolution of related claims or refunds.
- Work with the Contract Administrator to compile monthly pay applications using standard AIA formats.
- Utilize knowledge of historical cost and market conditions to support conceptual and preconstruction estimating for future mission critical opportunities.
- Participate in establishing GC’s/GR’s, scoping of assigned trades, scheduling, cashflow, and labor power loading.
- Partner with the Superintendent and Safety Manager to reinforce company safety programs and promote a culture of zero incidents.
- Maintain and build relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and mission critical trade partners to strengthen company reputation and future opportunities.
- Conduct performance and career development discussions with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Contract Administrators.
- Perform all other duties as assigned that contribute to successful project delivery and company objectives.
We trust that you have:
- 10+ years minimum of construction project management experience with 5 years of experience in mission critical project management
- Experience working on hyper-scale mission critical construction projects is a plus
- Experience leading and managing a team of direct reports
- Degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification is a plus
- Fluency in reading, quantifying, and analyzing construction drawings
- Competent understanding of construction scheduling and sequencing
- The ability to work efficiently on fast-paced construction projects with accelerated schedules
