Position Summary

McCarthy Holdings, Inc. is seeking an AV Conference and Collaboration Engineer to lead the deployment, support, and optimization of audio-visual (AV) and conferencing solutions across our corporate offices and construction job sites. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in modern collaboration systems—such as Microsoft Teams Rooms—and possess deep technical knowledge of AV hardware/software integration, unified communications, and onsite support in dynamic environments. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for AV conferencing and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Teams Rooms, and unified communications systems.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of conference room hardware at both corporate and jobsite locations. This includes audio/visual systems (cameras, microphones, displays), control interfaces, scheduler devices and any associated mounts, cabling and extenders.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues related to AV quality, connectivity, and software integration
  • Manage incident response and root cause analysis for recurring conferencing issues.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, project managers, construction teams, and third-party installers to ensure technology solutions are delivered on schedule, within scope, aligned to standards and optimized for user experience.
  • Help facilitate large events and provide comprehensive support to ensure successful execution. This includes offering guidance and assistance to event organizers and participants, managing all technical aspects of the event, and ensuring a seamless and professional experience.
  • Provide technical support and training to users, addressing issues related to conferencing, AV equipment, and integrated controls.
  • Coordinate onsite assessments and health checks to proactively identify issues and recommend technical specifications for new conference room builds or upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including wiring diagrams, equipment inventories, and support materials.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety standards and company protocols during installation and maintenance activities.  

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with AV conferencing, unified communications, or IT systems deployment.  
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Proven track record of managing AV/IT projects, preferably with conference room or collaboration technology.
  • Experience designing conference room spaces, including sound, lighting, and camera placement.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Teams, Teams Rooms, A/V systems, and AV hardware components (displays, microphones, soundbars, control panels).
  • Proficiency in diagnosing network-related issues affecting AV systems and conferencing equipment.
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%) and deliver onsite support in varied field conditions.
  • Strong grasp of IP networking and protocols (TCP/IP, Multicast, VLANs, Dante, AVB) and troubleshooting AV-over-IP solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in public speaking, must be able to deliver in-person end-user training to groups, when necessary.
  • Must be proficient in both technical and user-facing documentation (system schematics, wiring diagrams, user guides, and support documentation) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with configuration and installation of Polycom, Neat, Crestron, Biamp or Shure DSP equipment in an enterprise environment.
  • Field experience supporting collaboration solutions in construction or engineering environments.  
  • Experience with software or solutions adjacent to conference technologies, such as Digital Signage, Room schedulers, Space Booking, etc.  
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting AV control platforms (Crestron, Q-Sys, Extron)  
  • Proficiency with enterprise-grade platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Google Meet
  • Familiarity with programmatic control of AV devices through scripting and automation toolsets (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Power Automate, SIMPL etc.).
