About the Program
Summary
Provides direct medical and programmatic (psychological) nursing care to clients, utilizing the nursing process and participates in client and family healthcare teaching.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing manner focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status and completes daily service progress notes and billing forms
• Formulates a goal directed plan of care, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and client outcomes
• Implements care of clients
• Establishes priorities of client care based on essential client needs and available resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies
• Communicates with client in an understandable manner
• Maintain and ensures HIPAA, ethical standards and professional boundaries with all staff and clients
• Provides in-service training to staff regarding medical and psychiatric nursing issues
• May assist client in linkage with medical provider/labs and follows up to assure physician orders and prescriptions are completed
• May administer medications or regularly scheduled injections
• Consults with other members of the treatment team on clients’ treatment plans
• Obtains medication consents when appropriate
• Participates in staff in-service and case presentation meetings
• Consults with medical doctor regularly on treatment plans for clients
• Attends weekly staff meetings and brings any clinical or medical concerns regarding specific clients to weekly treatment meetings
• Other duties as assigned or necessary to support the program and/or the company

May provide direct supervision to any Licensed Psychiatric Technicians of LVN’s on staff.

Works under direct supervision of the Psychiatrist or Medical Director
Education/Licensing Requirements
Registered RN with current appropriate state licensure and must have psychiatric nursing training with working knowledge of psychotropic medications
Proof of: valid CA driver’s license, valid auto insurance coverage as well as proof of education are required. Prior behavioral health experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current state RN registration
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Candidates should have 2-3 years of psychiatric experience
• Knowledge of working with the severely and chronically or severely mentally ill population preferred
• Requires strong clinical skills and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Prefer community clinic or residential treatment school experience and some supervisory and teaching experience
• Also, prefer some knowledge regarding Rehabilitation philosophy
• Intermediate level PC skills required
Physical Requirements
▪ Office Environment. Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking
▪ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit
▪ May be required to lift up to 20 pounds
▪ Requires significant use of computer, tablet, phone and/or general office equipment
▪ Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects
▪ Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
▪ May require off-site travel up to 20% of position responsibilities
▪ Will use personal car or vehicle as required for travel and/or transportation.
▪ Not remote position.
▪ Will travel for meetings, training, etc. as needed. However, not remote position.
Decision Making Responsibilities
Recognizes any unusual client situations or circumstances and reports them to a medical doctor or medical director immediately. Makes important evaluations during the assessment and evaluation of clients which results in decisions as to the appropriate case management.
