Senior Finance Analyst
Description
Opportunity
The Senior Finance Analyst is a key business partner to operations, responsible for providing financial insight, and support to drive growth, efficiency, and accountability across the state, reporting to the Senior Director of State Operations in California.
This leader will play an integral role in understanding and communicating the “story behind the numbers” — ensuring financial data translates into actionable insights for operational decision-making. The Director will oversee key financial processes, including variance analysis, ROI evaluation on marketing and growth initiatives, reimbursement tracking, denial management, contractual oversight, revenue cycle management monitoring, NDA (non-discretionary allowance) reporting, RFP (request for proposal) compilation, among other responsibilities.
The ideal candidate brings a strong grasp of healthcare financial operations and complex reimbursement dynamics, coupled with the ability to “slice and dice” the business to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for performance improvement.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to the California market leadership team, supporting business planning, operational reviews, and performance optimization.
- Lead financial analysis and insights around revenue, expenses, and margin drivers, including variance explanations, ROI assessments, and operational trend reviews.
- Translate contract terms and assumptions into clear operational expectations and daily targets (including productivity, staffing models, unit delivery, and billing rules), monitor contract-level execution to flag early risks, produce contract-specific performance proof (e.g., cost per unit and margin erosion), and support remediation, renegotiation, or exit decisions.
- Develop systems and processes to monitor and communicate expectations and daily targets.
- Oversee revenue capture on the operational end, contractual reserves, reimbursement accuracy, and denial rate monitoring to ensure revenue realization and financial integrity.
- Partner with revenue cycle teams to ensure billing processes and payer relationships support sustainable revenue streams.
- Develop and manage market-level budgets and forecasts, working closely with operations and central finance to align assumptions and targets.
- Support data-driven decision-making by building and maintaining tools that enhance visibility into key performance metrics (financial and operational).
- Provide financial oversight for cost reporting, market-level KPIs, and ad hoc analyses.
- Oversee program data analysts to ensure contract deliverables are timely and accurate.
- Assist in evaluation of growth initiatives, service line expansions, and capital investments, providing ROI and payback analyses.
- Evaluate and participate in RFP responses.
- Build strong working relationships with operational leaders, ensuring financial information is clear, relevant, and actionable.
- Support the implementation of financial systems, process improvements, and internal controls to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
