SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner, under the administrative supervision of the Director of Nursing and clinical
supervision of a Medical Doctor, ensures care provided to individuals and families is done in a trauma-
informed, therapeutic, competent, and responsible manner. The position will provide clinically excellent
counseling and prescribing duties to provide our clients viable treatment. The Nurse Practitioner will
provide the adequate treatment for the individual to maintain a successful quality of life in the community
setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Provides an outpatient psychiatric assessment and diagnosis in accordance with the policy, regulation,
and protocols.
•
Administering and monitoring medication for the purpose of improving, stabilizing, and/or managing
symptoms for mental health disorders in accordance to treatment guidelines.
Provides counsel to clients during appointments as necessary
Partnering with client, family, and caregiving partners to assist in developing a treatment plan for
medication adherence to address mental health needs when clinically appropriate.
Collaborate with the care coordinators, therapist, clinical supervisors, and other treatment team
members in Camelot to coordinate care;
Work with the Camelot team on in an integrated care approach to serving the full spectrum of mental
health/human services needs of children, adolescents, adults, and families.
Refers clients to mental/behavioral health providers as needed
Orders and interprets laboratory or diagnostic testing results with clients and families to provide
information on general physical conditions and/or mental health disorders.
Responsible for timely and accurate completion of documentation to include assessments, treatment
plans, progress notes, lab requests, and prescriptions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
•

A Nurse Practitioner must have a Master’s of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
Post Licensure Experience: 1-3 years
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•
Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a therapeutic, psychiatric, community-
based treatment environment
•
•
Experience prescribing psychotropic medications specific to mental health diagnoses.
A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is preferred, however a Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse
Practitioner, or other applicable specialties in the state of Tennessee is acceptable.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a current Tennessee Nursing License
