About the Role
The Nurse Practitioner, under the administrative supervision of the Director of Nursing and clinical supervision of a Medical Doctor, ensures care provided to individuals and families is delivered in a trauma-informed, therapeutic, competent, and responsible manner. This role provides outpatient psychiatric assessment, counseling, and medication management services to support individuals across the lifespan. The Nurse Practitioner delivers clinically excellent care to help clients achieve stability and maintain a successful quality of life within the community setting.
The Nurse Practitioner, under the administrative supervision of the Director of Nursing and clinical supervision of a Medical Doctor, ensures care provided to individuals and families is delivered in a trauma-informed, therapeutic, competent, and responsible manner. This role provides outpatient psychiatric assessment, counseling, and medication management services to support individuals across the lifespan. The Nurse Practitioner delivers clinically excellent care to help clients achieve stability and maintain a successful quality of life within the community setting.
Responsibilities
· Provide outpatient psychiatric assessment and diagnosis in accordance with policies, regulations, and clinical protocols
· Administer and monitor medications to improve, stabilize, and manage symptoms of mental health disorders according to treatment guidelines
· Provide counseling to clients during appointments as clinically appropriate
· Partner with clients, families, and caregivers to develop treatment plans that promote medication adherence and address mental health needs
· Collaborate with care coordinators, therapists, clinical supervisors, and interdisciplinary treatment team members to coordinate comprehensive care
· Participate in an integrated care approach to address the full spectrum of behavioral health and human service needs for children, adolescents, adults, and families
· Refer clients to mental and behavioral health providers as needed
· Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests; review and discuss results with clients and families
· Complete timely and accurate documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, lab requests, and prescriptions
· Work in collaboration with a Medical Doctor/Psychiatrist to oversee prescribing practices
· Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies
· Travel approximately 25% of the time to support program needs

Required Qualifications
· Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited university
· 1–3 years of post-licensure experience
· Current Tennessee Nursing License
· Ability to work flexible hours consistent with program needs and work at multiple locations if required
· Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
· Knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment planning and team-based care
· Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse socioeconomic populations
· Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited university

Preferred Qualifications

· Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner credential preferred; Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or other applicable specialties in Tennessee accepted
· Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in therapeutic, psychiatric, or community-based treatment environments
· Experience prescribing psychotropic medications for mental health diagnoses
· Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner credential preferred; Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or other applicable specialties in Tennessee accepted
