SUMMARY
A person in this position functions under the working title of Certified Peer Specialist. Assignments are
varied in nature and are performed under the direct supervision of the Recovery Services Director/Certified
Peer Support Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Completes all required paperwork within regulatory timeframes including Strength based
assessment, Individual Service plans, progress notes, releases of information, and consent for
treatment
•
•
Provides support and encouragement to individuals in the creation and completion of goals
Assists individuals in the development of self-advocacy skills, independent living skills,
educational goals, vocational goals, and Wellness Recovery Action Plans.
Identifies and provides linkages to community resources and natural support within the
community
•

Attends and actively participates in weekly supervision and check-ins
Assists and mentors' individuals in utilizing public transportation
Maintains own wellness and recovery to support individuals in services
Teaches relapse prevention through identification of triggers, early warning signs, and use of
wellness tools via WRAP and Taking Action

Maintains a minimum productivity expectation of 65%
Performs related work as required

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
•
High school diploma or GED with lived experience related to mental health and/or substance
abuse and has identified as being in recovery for at least I year and has completed Certified
Peer Support Training
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•
Experience working or volunteering with individuals having a mental health or substance
abuse diagnosis is a plus
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Peer Specialist required
State Certification of Peer Support
Valid PA Driver's license- preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
•
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond
effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles
using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive
speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public
groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic
equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as
frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance,
correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Ability to define problems, and perform required job duties during emergency situations.
Ability to evaluate a crisis situation and determine most appropriate form of intervention i.e.
mobile crisis or 911 services.
