Veterinary Assistant - Swing Shift

Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of South County is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant Level 2 to join our amazing team!
The Veterinary Assistant performs a vital role in our practice, promoting efficient hospital operation and provision of excellent patient care. Candidate must have a compassionate, caring and understanding attitude. Job responsibilities include, the following.
Role Responsibilities:
- Set an example of courtesy and professionalism in working with clients and coworkers.
- Assist and follow the directions of lead technicians, management and doctors.
- Perform simple treatments as directed.
- Reliably perform treatments. Ensure that treatments are kept up to date.
- Handle all animals with both caution and compassion.
- Prepare patients for surgery.
- Keep all areas, including reception, exam rooms, treatment sinks, floors, cages, etc. clean at all times.
- Assist with some reception work when needed.
- Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule
- Required shifts may be scheduled on nights, weekends, and holidays. You may be required to work beyond regularly scheduled shifts at times due to an unexpectedly heavy emergency caseload.
Experience & Technical skills:
* Previous veterinary assistant experience 1 year.
* Ability to multi-task and work well with others.
* Safely restrain and handling both canine and feline
* Basic medical terminology
* Perform basic lab work
* Basic patient assessment (weight, TPR, MM/CRT)
* Be capable of working on your feet for extended periods of time.

Hourly Wage: $21-$23/hour depending on experience and skillset.
Schedule: Full time - Must have a weekend day availability. Ability to work overnight and swing shifts is a plus.
