Licensed Veterinary Technician (Swing Shift)

Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Receiving Team!
We are searching for LVTs who have an interest in emergency medicine. We are looking for an LVT to work our swing shift- which will be Sunday, Tues-Thurs 12p-10p. Our schedule includes rotations that allow for some weekends off and an extended number of days off in a row. We currently have 1 boarded Critical Care Specialist and a dedicated ICU for our critically ill or injured small animal patients. Our ICU is equipped with multi-parameter monitors, telemetry, spacious housing for large breed dogs, and 3 controlled environmental chambers.
Our ER LVTs are an integral part of our ability to successfully stabilize, treat and provide care to our most dynamic and challenging cases. They work closely with the emergency doctors to continually improve our and managing workflow.
The ER LVT provides excellent patient care for all services VSES including Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal medicine. Primary responsibility is to assist in the stabilization and treatment of patients arriving on the emergency service and to provide the best patient care possible including; monitoring patient status using a variety of equipment along with hands-on assessment, administering medications(including controlled substances), intravenous infusion therapies, providing nutritional support (Enteral/ Parenteral) and oxygen as requested by clinician throughout shift, Veni-puncture for the placement of intravenous catheters, blood sampling and administration of drugs, monitoring and maintaining various indwelling tubes including tracheostomy, chest and feeding and a variety of catheters including intravenous (multi-lumen, central, peripheral) urinary and arterial.
General nursing care is continual including maintaining a clean and comfortable holding area, walking, and general grooming.
Instinct electronic treatment sheet is used as a primary form of communication for clinicians to request specific treatment regimens. The ER LVT reviews Instinct for completion, the accuracy of drug dosages, treatment protocols. The ER LVT uses Instinct to assist in determining doctor requests but continues to use critical thinking skills to determine other patient care needs.
We are seeking LVTs excited about an opportunity to advance their skill sets and knowledge base in an environment where continuing development/ education is encouraged.
Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience as an LVT and have proficiency with animal handling and patient care. We are seeking individuals who have excellent communication skills and experience in medical record documentation using medical terminology appropriately.
Basic computer skills are required.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, squatting, reaching, standing walking/ on feet most of the day, and able to handle large dogs a requirement.
On-the-job training will be provided by a full-time LVT and other members of our team.
